Put an ad. in your local paper and maybe do some free washes for friends that will let you and for them to give you recommendations.

Send out some flyer's and you will be well on your way!Can anyone help me with any ideas of how to start a window washing business?
Definitely use craigslist and start by underbidding all your competition and get a list of satisfied references started. When you have that, notch up your price on CL and list your referrals. Once you get a steady clientele you can expand like a regular biz. It's free, and very effective because there are people looking for lower cost workers via CL and it helps you both.
First I would say is aquire a license for your business... then get insurance for your business.. and track all income and expenditures as the IRS will usually require this at tax time.

Get with a graphics designer or publisher to create some professional flyers and business cards. Many people will barter for such work.. Check craigslist.
just make sure you have all the gear. Research the market. See what other companies charge. Come up with rates about 10% to 20% lower (in the begining). Then start handing out flyers. Go to a feew companies and shake some hands. Get your name out there. Get yourself some good loyal customers that will help to get your name around.
Write a business plan. Google ';microloans'; for your area.
First I would recommend that you secure a good insurance plan and seek out legal advice about anything related to insurance and any employees you might have or obtain in the future. After all that is taken care of, I believe that it will be relatively easy for you to get started once you have all the equipment that you require since just about every business has windows, particularly car dealerships and restaurants. Second get cards made with your name and your phone number and the name of your business on the card. Do you have a name yet? Ask the YAC (yahoo answers community) to help you find one if not. They're pretty good as a resource. Also have flyer's made that will help you get an edge over any competition you may face. Perhaps you can offer one day out of the month free service to a long term customer, say if you subscribe for a months service, you do a freebie. You can work out the particulars of that one at your leisure. You are very fortunate, starting a business. This must be an exciting time for you. I wish you a lot of luck.

Advertising ideas for a Window Washing Business?

Im hoping to do a leaflet drop but uncertain about design

On leaflets what type of wording to use?

Should i include 10% off coupons?

Can i be creative and go for abstract?

What other good forms of advertising can be usefull?Advertising ideas for a Window Washing Business?
If i were you,

I would clean myself up, get a haircut, put on clean clothes hopefully with my company logo on it, then go DOOR-to-DOOR and offer to clean either a big glass front door or a window with a nice view for FREE and also offer a quote for the rest of the house.

I would do this 100 times and talk to 100 homeowners then sit down with myself and work out what worked well and what didn't work. I would change my sales presentation accordingly and do it 100 more times.

This way your out actively getting business and not passively sitting by the phone waiting for it to ring.

For the leaflets, i would NOT go abstract. People only glance at these leaflets before throwing them out so you have to communicate exactly what your offering and hope that they are in the market for that product(window washing.) I would get right to the point with my wording, i would also mention the benefits of clean windows (seeing the sunset, keeping an eye on the kids outside, being the envy of the neighbors.)

I would also stop at the local real estate offices and talk to as many Realtors as you can. Tell them in this tough market you need to do everything you can to raise a homes curb appeal and clean windows go a long way in doing that.

You should probably have a business license, liability insurance and a bond. You should also draw up customer agreements so that when you do a job, you are ensured you will be paid.

It's unlikely that Alabama has specific laws about pressure washing.
    Good idea do it.

Does anyone know how good a mobile pressure washing business is?

How much start up cost is involved? How lucrative can this business potentially be?Does anyone know how good a mobile pressure washing business is?
    ~READ ME~ I CAN HELP!!

Depends on how many employees you intend to initially have. If you plan to have, lets say, 2 employees at first. Each has to have a truck, a uniform, a commercial pressure washer, and miscellaneous equipment, ok? Each truck, maybe two used ones at $9,000. 2 Commercial Pressure Washers @ $1,300 each. Let's say 3 uniforms per employee @ $30 each. And miscellaneous equipment @ $75 a month.

I would say you're looking at about $25,000 in start up costs, which isn't bad in comparison to other business ventures. But still a lot of money.

Depending on how much you are planning to charge - I would suggest charging by the square foot - it will probably take you 2-3 years to turn a profit if you are successful.

Now check by yourself if you can see use for a pressure-washing business in your area. - Is there graffiti anywhere- that would be the most common use, probably. Also pressure washers can be used for refinishing pools, so if you can partner up with someone who does something like that - all the better for you.

Also - profit is majorly determined by how and how much you are visible to your potential customers. You need to advertise - and to the right people.

Also, advertising is very expensive, no matter which way you chose.

So decide, is this business present a large enough opportunity to make a profit - That's the decision maker.

Good luck and I hope this helps.Does anyone know how good a mobile pressure washing business is?
Hopefully all pressure washing businesses are mobile, people can't bring their houses to you unless they live in a trailer, in that case you don't want to get it pressure washed because it might cave in.
The start up costs should be minimal you'll need the machine any cleaning materials and advertising costs. Also you have to be able to get business my sister's husband made good washing cars for dealerships

What would a pressure washing business do in the winter?

If you're near a rural area, look into cleaning tractors %26amp; farm equipment (which is idle in northern latitudes).

Many repair %26amp; maintenance projects are done at this time and most mechanics love working on a clean machine.
Steam out frozen water lines(supply to house) or frozen drains

How can I start a mobile car washing business?

Get a power washer, get a vehicle to drive around in, and get some cleaning supplies. Then go out and get some customers. How can I start a mobile car washing business?
Ithink this will work out. You could probably try out offering such service on weekends to reduce the workpressure of the working class. This could be done by carrying necessry detergents and cleaning accessories as well as a handbill briefing regarding the service offered with itemwise rates. The form could be jointly signed by the both with payment by cash on completion of work. A good way to make money in your free timeHow can I start a mobile car washing business?
I actually have 1. I detail semis and get over $50 a shot (about 2 hrs). Anyway I contact someone who owns a company and have them bring them outside my home and I have a power washer that takes off everything. I wash them, then they leave and I am $50 richer. I get about 8 a weekend. (Its EASY MONEY), but in addition to washing vehicles, I use cash crate so I get tons of money a month. You can get up to $3 for just filling out a 10 min survey and stuff like that. It is free (I am only 15) and you don't need a credit card. Heres the link:
ive heard a story of a guy who washed the cars at big businesses. when these business people went to work they would give him the keys and he would hand wash the cars himself and give them back the keys. his business grew really big and now he dosent wash cars, he hires people to do it for him.

    i hope that helped
