Wash and fold laundry business?

I am recently unemployed mother of four. I've been consistently searching for employment with no success. So I've decided to take matters into my own hands and start a small business, with little start up cost. The wash and fold service seems ideal. Can anyone who is in the business please give me some good direction and advice?Wash and fold laundry business?
If you are very good at it, you can get business.

Try flyers that give pick up and delivery (if you are doing this at home, the last thing you want is customers at your door)

Give the flyers out at high end apartment complexes, even putting them on cars at expensive entertainment complexes.

Give out cards or flyers anywhere you can see busy singles, guys and gals. There may be less business than there was a year ago, but there is still business out there, you just have to work harder to get it.

Make sure that you have a check list for the new customer , that includes any soap allergies or if they like towels folded a certain way.

It always works best if you know your customers likes and dislikes before you start working for them.

Most laundry services charge by the pound, so invest in a good scale and price accordingly.

good luck!!!Wash and fold laundry business?
Wtf, no ones needs anyone to do that anymore. Almost everyone has their own washer and dryer machines, and if they don't they go to a laundry mat or wash them in the sink.

No one is going to pay you to wash and fold their clothes in this economy. What do you think this is, the 50's? Go get a real job.
wow some of these responses were so mean! have you considered being an Avon or Mary-Kay consultant? They make good money, make their own hours, and get to sell make up- very sweet deal. The wash and fold seems good, but unless you are in NYC i dont know how successful it will be. Maybe you could be a house keeper? Dog sitter? These are all extra ways to make money while still having family time :D good luck!
