Can anyone help me with any ideas of how to start a window washing business?

Put an ad. in your local paper and maybe do some free washes for friends that will let you and for them to give you recommendations.

Send out some flyer's and you will be well on your way!Can anyone help me with any ideas of how to start a window washing business?
Definitely use craigslist and start by underbidding all your competition and get a list of satisfied references started. When you have that, notch up your price on CL and list your referrals. Once you get a steady clientele you can expand like a regular biz. It's free, and very effective because there are people looking for lower cost workers via CL and it helps you both.
First I would say is aquire a license for your business... then get insurance for your business.. and track all income and expenditures as the IRS will usually require this at tax time.

Get with a graphics designer or publisher to create some professional flyers and business cards. Many people will barter for such work.. Check craigslist.
just make sure you have all the gear. Research the market. See what other companies charge. Come up with rates about 10% to 20% lower (in the begining). Then start handing out flyers. Go to a feew companies and shake some hands. Get your name out there. Get yourself some good loyal customers that will help to get your name around.
Write a business plan. Google ';microloans'; for your area.
First I would recommend that you secure a good insurance plan and seek out legal advice about anything related to insurance and any employees you might have or obtain in the future. After all that is taken care of, I believe that it will be relatively easy for you to get started once you have all the equipment that you require since just about every business has windows, particularly car dealerships and restaurants. Second get cards made with your name and your phone number and the name of your business on the card. Do you have a name yet? Ask the YAC (yahoo answers community) to help you find one if not. They're pretty good as a resource. Also have flyer's made that will help you get an edge over any competition you may face. Perhaps you can offer one day out of the month free service to a long term customer, say if you subscribe for a months service, you do a freebie. You can work out the particulars of that one at your leisure. You are very fortunate, starting a business. This must be an exciting time for you. I wish you a lot of luck.

Advertising ideas for a Window Washing Business?

Im hoping to do a leaflet drop but uncertain about design

On leaflets what type of wording to use?

Should i include 10% off coupons?

Can i be creative and go for abstract?

What other good forms of advertising can be usefull?Advertising ideas for a Window Washing Business?
If i were you,

I would clean myself up, get a haircut, put on clean clothes hopefully with my company logo on it, then go DOOR-to-DOOR and offer to clean either a big glass front door or a window with a nice view for FREE and also offer a quote for the rest of the house.

I would do this 100 times and talk to 100 homeowners then sit down with myself and work out what worked well and what didn't work. I would change my sales presentation accordingly and do it 100 more times.

This way your out actively getting business and not passively sitting by the phone waiting for it to ring.

For the leaflets, i would NOT go abstract. People only glance at these leaflets before throwing them out so you have to communicate exactly what your offering and hope that they are in the market for that product(window washing.) I would get right to the point with my wording, i would also mention the benefits of clean windows (seeing the sunset, keeping an eye on the kids outside, being the envy of the neighbors.)

I would also stop at the local real estate offices and talk to as many Realtors as you can. Tell them in this tough market you need to do everything you can to raise a homes curb appeal and clean windows go a long way in doing that.

You should probably have a business license, liability insurance and a bond. You should also draw up customer agreements so that when you do a job, you are ensured you will be paid.

It's unlikely that Alabama has specific laws about pressure washing.
    Good idea do it.

Does anyone know how good a mobile pressure washing business is?

How much start up cost is involved? How lucrative can this business potentially be?Does anyone know how good a mobile pressure washing business is?
    ~READ ME~ I CAN HELP!!

Depends on how many employees you intend to initially have. If you plan to have, lets say, 2 employees at first. Each has to have a truck, a uniform, a commercial pressure washer, and miscellaneous equipment, ok? Each truck, maybe two used ones at $9,000. 2 Commercial Pressure Washers @ $1,300 each. Let's say 3 uniforms per employee @ $30 each. And miscellaneous equipment @ $75 a month.

I would say you're looking at about $25,000 in start up costs, which isn't bad in comparison to other business ventures. But still a lot of money.

Depending on how much you are planning to charge - I would suggest charging by the square foot - it will probably take you 2-3 years to turn a profit if you are successful.

Now check by yourself if you can see use for a pressure-washing business in your area. - Is there graffiti anywhere- that would be the most common use, probably. Also pressure washers can be used for refinishing pools, so if you can partner up with someone who does something like that - all the better for you.

Also - profit is majorly determined by how and how much you are visible to your potential customers. You need to advertise - and to the right people.

Also, advertising is very expensive, no matter which way you chose.

So decide, is this business present a large enough opportunity to make a profit - That's the decision maker.

Good luck and I hope this helps.Does anyone know how good a mobile pressure washing business is?
Hopefully all pressure washing businesses are mobile, people can't bring their houses to you unless they live in a trailer, in that case you don't want to get it pressure washed because it might cave in.
The start up costs should be minimal you'll need the machine any cleaning materials and advertising costs. Also you have to be able to get business my sister's husband made good washing cars for dealerships

Get a power washer, get a vehicle to drive around in, and get some cleaning supplies. Then go out and get some customers. How can I start a mobile car washing business?
Ithink this will work out. You could probably try out offering such service on weekends to reduce the workpressure of the working class. This could be done by carrying necessry detergents and cleaning accessories as well as a handbill briefing regarding the service offered with itemwise rates. The form could be jointly signed by the both with payment by cash on completion of work. A good way to make money in your free timeHow can I start a mobile car washing business?
I actually have 1. I detail semis and get over $50 a shot (about 2 hrs). Anyway I contact someone who owns a company and have them bring them outside my home and I have a power washer that takes off everything. I wash them, then they leave and I am $50 richer. I get about 8 a weekend. (Its EASY MONEY), but in addition to washing vehicles, I use cash crate so I get tons of money a month. You can get up to $3 for just filling out a 10 min survey and stuff like that. It is free (I am only 15) and you don't need a credit card. Heres the link:
ive heard a story of a guy who washed the cars at big businesses. when these business people went to work they would give him the keys and he would hand wash the cars himself and give them back the keys. his business grew really big and now he dosent wash cars, he hires people to do it for him.

    i hope that helped

How to start a window washing business?

I'm going to start a business, where I will wash windows, mow your lawn, clean the gutters, weed your garden and a few other things and need some help starting it.How to start a window washing business?
I am trying to do the same thing sort of. I don't know where to start either. I know that I will not get best answer for this, but I wish you luck. My story is below in the sources!

Thank you hard truth....I agree word of mouth is a POWERFUL thing! Thanks again! How to start a window washing business?
    Depends on how old you are and if it would be ';on the books'; or ';under the table.';

With both you would first need to determine the type of equipment you need (lawnmower, weedwacker, clothes, buckets, soaps, gloves, goggles, ladder, etc...) and what if anything you need to buy. That would be part of your start up costs. Then you need to start thinking about how much you will be charging for your time (don't forget to set aside part of your profit for routine maintenance on your equipment and repair costs if something breaks or needs to be replaced) and labor. Also start thinking about marketing. Build a local reputation with people you know and friends of people you know. Believe me when I say word of mouth is the best, cheapest, and quickest form of marketing you can get. Do quality work at an affordable price and people will be bombarding you.

That's a place to start anyway. good luck.

How should I go about starting a car washing business by hand?

I want to start a small car washing business I plan on hanging up sign promoting the business then when someone calls I'm going to catch the bus with all my car washing equipment and wash their car how should I go about getting the waterHow should I go about starting a car washing business by hand?
I'm not sure if this will work for you or not,but you can't carry a lot of stuff on the bus so just be selective what you take with you . Get a bag and just take the rags, brushes soap and tire cleaner and cleaner for the interior. Just plan everything you will need to have. I would lower the price of the actual car wash since you will be using the water and hose at the customers house. Stress that by your washing the car at the customers home its less likely any damage would happen to the vehicle. Good luck, if you put forth an effort I'm betting you'll do well.

I am thinking about opening a window washing business and need ideas?

I am thinking about opening a window-washing services business. This will mainly be for businesses. Do you personally know anyone in your town who owns one? What are some good ideas (besides marketing and advertising, all set with that) on how to make good money with it? Also, what kind of equipment/tools would I need besides squeegees and the solution to clean with? Any suggestions would help? Thanks so muchI am thinking about opening a window washing business and need ideas?
in between retail jobs and football I always carried squeegees, buckets, poles, towels and ash in my van. I washed windows inside for a dollar a pane and out side for fifty cents a pane and I added more if I had to remove screens or on the inside plain old stacked up stuff in the way. You will need insurance in case you spill the bucket and it ruins a wool carpet but for the rest of it there is good money with going to everyone you know and having the routine night janitors take windows off their contract so your friends can give that part to you. I worked at night and surfed all day and went to school in the afternoon partied till I fell asleep and got up went to work and was always in the water at dawn. You need to be independent without partners and you need to get the owners of the businesses you do to let you do their houses before parties for the bonus money, if the surf was small I went looking for new accounts in board shorts and sandals it was fun and I can always go back to that for emergencies (lucky no emergencies in the past 39 years)I am thinking about opening a window washing business and need ideas?
I am writing a road trip book about taking my van in 1970 and doing windows for food and gas from So Cal to Canada and back. The whole time surfing at every point and dating the girls I met in every little town for 2600 miles. I left with forty dollars and came back with $206.00 and was gone 59 days Report Abuse

I don't know them personally, but I used to pay my boss's personal bills. She would have her home's windows done each year for an outrageous price!

Good luck with this economy as that would considered a luxury item.

You may need to invest in some type of lift for windows on the second floors (and above).

Look online for these types of business and get some quotes for a fictional building. This will give you an idea of the prices they are charging. Also ask them how they do upper floor windows, products they use, etc.

    Good Luck!

    what? Sex sells.

Thumb this! What advice can you guys give me on starting a hand car washing business?
Starting a car washing business in your neighborhood is actually pretty easy. If you have someone who you know very well that would let you clean their car and give referrals, than you're all set. Just make some flyers on the computer, advertising what areas of the car you clean, what products to use (Meguiers and Mothers is the best) And list your prices and obviously name and phone number.

    Do's and Don'ts

-Wash car from the top down ( this prevents grime from the bottom from getting on the cleaner part of the paint and scratching it)

-Wash in a fast pace, but thorough too.

    -Be courteous of their belongings

Also, make sure not to charge too much. I charge $10 for a basic exterior and $10 for interior. If they want wax, I add $5. My exterior contains, wash windows, tire shine, chrome/black trim polish. Interior includes vacuum, trim and dash cleaner, and interior windows. Shampooing is extra $5. Good Luck!!!

Is Mobile Car Wash a Good Business?

I live in Phoenix Arizona my husband has been searching for a job like crazy, but he hasn鈥檛 been able to find anything. We鈥檙e going to be getting our tax refund and thought that it would be a good idea to invest that money on a mobile car wash business鈥o you guys think it鈥檚 a good business? Is Mobile Car Wash a Good Business?
There are enough car wash businesses out there! But you can always try. It may work for you!Is Mobile Car Wash a Good Business?
When starting a business, you should ask a few questions:

    1) Will it work at my location?

    2) Who am I trying to reach?

    3) Will it generate enough money to cover the expenses?

If your ina dry, dirty location and can reach business owners, car lots, and VP's %26amp; CEO's, then yes, you'll do ok even in a recession. However, if your somewhere like a small town (or large town with constant traffic [NYC, ATL, etc]), then no! You won't even make enough to cover your expenses.
Maybe you can have a try. But I don't have a big expectation

Business ideas that don't require employees? Car wash, storage facility, etc?

I have the ability to acquire property for relatively cheap prices and am contemplating starting a small business at these sites. It would be optimal to run such businesses with few if any employees. Among my current ideas are car washes, and storage facilities.

Can you please relay any other ideas that I could operate without the need for employees?

Thanks so muchBusiness ideas that don't require employees? Car wash, storage facility, etc?
    Arcade Video Game Center,

    Laundromat....................(coin up)

    Drive Through Coffee shop

Gas Station..Business ideas that don't require employees? Car wash, storage facility, etc?
A storage facility would work, but you might still have to have an office employee to watch phones and enter new users.

An automated do-it-yourself car wash would be a good idea. The kind that you drive in, insert some quarters, and scrub your own car. Those aren't bad. But, you still need someone to do the maintenance, fill in the soap and stuff, and check the coins.

Another idea would be a car detail shop. I know in my town, there is only a couple, and they make some decent money. Many people like to have a clean car, but only wash the outside. A good detailer does all the interior, including cleaning the little vents, and vacuming under the seats, and a lot more. Usually a good detailer will charge about $50 for a complete interior job.
    Gas Station always profitable :)

What is your best tip for a dog washing business?

We are starting up a dog washing service and wondered what would be the best tip from people who either get their dogs washed or who are dog washers themselves. Eg: How much do you pay? What is the best shampoo? What do you HATE about your dog washing experiences? What do you love?

ThanksWhat is your best tip for a dog washing business?
I am a die hard on the 20 percent rule....no matter what, unless the service is horrible.....everyone I tip gets 20 percent of the bill...so that being said, if you put little bows in the girl doggies hair and really do a great cut with the wash--and don't forget the ears...and if you don't cut and just wash, you should still cut the hair right below the ear canal because that gets gunky in 1-2 days and should be considered part of the wash.........and get pretty smelling conditioners---I use human conditioners on my dog-- she's a blonde and I use John Frieda and it really brings the highlights out in her hair---if it's good enough for me it should be for her.......my worst dog washing experience was when they only cut half of my dog saying she misbehaved..........never happened......never went there again.......never got a tip. What is your best tip for a dog washing business?
to tell you the truth... i once got my dog washed, and this may sound crazy, but I was watching her getting rinsed, because afterwords I needed to leave, and the lady put on the water, and my dog freaked out and eventually hurt her leg. I never went back! So i have to say the most important thing is handling the dogs with care, having low or deep baths, and of course making sure that if the owner is watching not to screw up! Good luck with the buisness, and I hope that you become a big success! :)
Dont tramatize the dog wash thouroughly yah best advice
I found it is easier to get tangles out of dog hair while the conditioner is in the hair and combs out better.

Try not to get shampoo in the dog's eyes. Is there a shampoo that is good for eye area like Baby Shampoo?

Will some need flea shampoo. Be sure and leave on the recommended time. And fleas on the towels are sometimes just ';numb'; or ';stunned'; and jump off later. Got to deal with that by shaking them in the tub, and rinsing the tub out very very well.

Rinse Rinse well, so the dog does not get dandruff from leftover shampoo or conditioner.

The pay? I have no idea. How much does the local dog parlors in your area charge?

Be sure and clean up very well after your shampoo.
customor service! it's not true, but the customer is always right! little thigs like someone said the bows in the dogs hair, etc. I hope you are a huge sucess, maybe someday I wil hear about you!

What do we need to start a car-washing business? Manual car-washing, not a real business...?

We are planning to wash cars over the summer holidays to earn a bit of cash. What equipment will we need to get us started? And should we give out free car-scents or something like that to make our business unique? Any hints/tips?

ALSO: How much should we charge for different thing - simple car wash, full car wash, polish and waxing!

Do we need to make leaflets? Would you suggest just knocking on peoples' doors?

    Thank you for your help!

xxWhat do we need to start a car-washing business? Manual car-washing, not a real business...?
    detailing is an art form

its not something you just do

also, a lot of people are cheap

ask on yahoo answers, how much would you pay for a car wash and a wash and wax

theyll say 5 bucks for wash, and 10 bucsk for wash and wax

in reality, its about 30-40 bucks just for a wash

and define simple car wash, and full car wash, i dont know what you mean?

    but

first, anything that touches that car, use ONLY microfiber towels, or foam appilcators that come with products, anything else, causes scratches

theres basically 5 steps, and you can mix/match them for what the customers want

( im also assuming your doing all this by hand)

first: wash, youll be washing the car before doing anything to the car. I suggest Meguiars Gold Class shampoo, and only use wash sponges/mitts designed for cars

2nd step: clay: This removes containments stuck to the paint that normal washing wont get off, leaving the paint cleaner/smoother.

It's not really a must, but if your doing paint cleaning, then i would definetly use it, if your just gonna be washing/waxing, you dont need it, but its a bonus. I suggest Meguiars smooth surface clay kit, comes with MF towel, 2 50 grams of clay ( enough to do at least 4 cars) clay lube ( will need more clay lube, you use most of it on just one car) and a sample of their cleaner wax ( paint cleaner/polish/wax all in one)

3rd: paint cleaning. This removes oxidation/scratches/swirl marks, etc..

Different strengths depending on how bad the paint is. ( and i HIGHLY only recommend Meguiars for paint cleaning) Meguiars Swirlx is the least abrasive in their consumer line up, so I would at least do that. Its really not that strong, so you may have to step up to Meguiars ultimate compound. This product is really strong, and gets rid of swirl marks/scratches fast. If you use UC, then you want to follow it up with the Swirlx, for a smoother/cleaner finish. Paint cleaners, need to be worked in, this takes time,

you work in about a 16x16 in section for 30-60 seconds, and wipe off, inspect, repeat if necessary

    4. Polish, this step is completely optional, especially if you use paint cleaning, cause the paint cleaning products mentioned above, have polishing oils in them already. But if you were to polish, you need a pure polish. Such as meguiars Deep crystal polish, or even can go to their professional line up,, and get product #7, this is their best polish. Polish is best for darker colored cars, do it on a white, probably wont notice anything. You rub it onto the paint, like you do lotion on your skin, and wipe off, dont let dry.

    5. Wax, this locks in polish, adds some shine, and protects the paint

Just spread on evenly, let dry, and wipe off

I Suggest Meguiars nxt 2.0 tech wax

    so

    short term

    1. meguiars gold class

    2. meguiars smooth surface clay kit

    3. swirlx

    4. polish ( optional)

    5. wax

now, theres also prodcuts that have step 3,4,5 all in one

if you were going to do that, i would do

    1. meguiars gold class

    2. smooth surface clay kit

3 Meguiars Colorx ( paitn cleaner, polish, wax all in one)

    4. Meguiars nxt 2.0 tech wax ( optional)

for doing all of that, it can be anywhere from around 100-200 bucks a car

but, that should also include other stuff like

    Vacumn interior

    Tire shine

    dash shine/protectant

    trim shine/protectant

    clean glass

    etc

Now, nobody is gonna want to pay 200 bucks, to kids who never worked on a car before

so, test these products on your car, before doing other peoples, and having a law suit on your hands

although, most people think their cars look good, covered with swirls, so, im pretty sure itll still look better

    now, to get people intersted

maybe go up to them, ask if theres a scratch or something on their car thats bugging them

then remove it for them for free, then say, if you want a full detail call me, and give them a business card

Which one of the follwing business set-ups would be the best to start with and give the greatest tax advantages. LLC. Corporation or a Sole Proprietor.I just bought a Dry-Cleaning,Laundry and Wash and Fold business.?
This is one for a tax professional (not yahoo answers!) good luck!I just bought a Dry-Cleaning,Laundry and Wash and Fold business.?
Do consult your tax man or an attorney because laws vary from state to state. But, in general, I will try to answer your question. For the cost of some professional advise, you could save yourself a world of headaches and a ton of money in the end.

An LLC sounds beneficial for your type of business because there will be customers coming and going in your establishment frequently every day. With water and soap spills on the floor, there is a great possibility of a slip and fall lawsuit. An LLC will protect your assets in the event of a lawsuit.

Corporations are heavily taxed in my state. Check yours.

Being a Sole Proprietor can be a good thing because you can waive unemployment compensation for yourself, saving overhead costs. And, you can draw a check from the business and then pay the taxes quarterly instead of deducting them out of your paycheck weekly. You will have to be disciplined and save for the taxes in that case. The disadvantages of being a Sole Proprietor is that you are not protected from personal law suits -- people can go after your house, your car, your bank account and so forth.

Wow! What an ingenious idea! I'm sure no one has ever thought of opening a car wash before!

It will work best if you hire lots of young female college students in white t-shirts and little red shorts to do the washing for you. I'd say you could charge up to five whole dollars - maybe even six - per month for a car wash. Just get 200,000 customers and you'll be a millionaire!Inputs for car wash business?

i believe so but see if you can get in contact with IRS and ask a rep just to be sureIn Turbo Tax Business what is the difference between reporting a ';wash'; equity sale as a cost or a loss?
I'm not sure how you'd handle that with TT, but if you're truly operating as a Trader in Securities then very different rules apply to you. A Trader in Securities does not file these as captital gains on Schedule D but as business income on Schedule C. This is a complex area of tax law and I 'd highly urge to to seek professional advice from a CPA or EA who specializes in this area of tax law.

If you want to rent a place then it depends where are you renting..CBD areas are more expensive for sure so it is subjective to the place you are running the business @.

Excluding all the equipments and all, you will have to have a hose to make spraying of water easier/ at least a water outlet which you have to check with the contractors.

Starting power wash business?how to mix chemicals?

    Hi,

    im starting power wash business and i would like to know how to mix chemicals to clean;

    decks:

    side:

    drive way:

    roof:

    fence:

    brick:

    concrete:

    tile:

    plastic:

i know some chemical will be ok to use with different areas.

please let me know something that i need to know and you really recommend, any tips or links will be really helpful.

thank you very much!Starting power wash business?how to mix chemicals?
I do not have a business but I use a product called Krud Kutter and it works well. They have a pretty good selection of cleaners and tells you on the bottle how to mix. It takes a very small amount to do the job. I have used it on my 20'x50' drive way and have about 3/4 of a gallon left. And also on 12'x18' deck twice and have about half of a gallon left.Starting power wash business?how to mix chemicals?
Check out powerwashnetwork.com. Its a great power washing forum.

Bleach is good for alot of stuff, especially houses. If you can get 12% bleach (sold at pool places as liquid chlorine if you can get it) you can use the chemical injector on the power washer to apply the bleach. Otherwise the 6% over the counter bleach will need to be mixed with water and applied with a pump up sprayer. Sodium hydroxide (lye) can be used on alot of things but remember it is caustic and must be handled with care. If you use it on wood it will darken it so you will also need a wood brightener which is oxalic acid and it is applied over the sodium hydroxide solution. Oxygen bleach, AKA sodium percarbonate (oxyclean and other oxygen cleaners, white powder stuff) also works good on wood but thats about it. All the chemicals are kind of a trial and error thing. Start out weak and make the mix stronger and stronger until you find the ideal strength.

Hot water is also a good investment to make, but dont use hot water on wood and dont use it on vinyl siding. You may use warm water if the heaters thermostat is adjustable, but no more than 120 degrees, less is possible. Heat will damage wood and CAN damage some types of siding. It also removes paint alot easier.

Always use a large tip when washing wood or houses. A size 8 tip with a 25 degree pattern with my 4000psi 4gpm machine is pretty good, a bigger tip than that would be ideal to drop the pressure even more. You do not need much pressure in most cases except concrete. In fact pressure will do more harm than good.

When washing around vegitation (flowers, grass, etc) always wet it down with water first before doing anything and then rinse rinse rinse when you are done. This keeps chemicals from getting on them and sticking and then rinses everything off. Chemicals, most of them anyways, not including the sodium percarbonate which is harmless, will harm grass, plants, etc.

Also, be sure to apply chemical to dry surfaces, dont wet the surface to be cleaned down first, just the plants. Then let the chemical dwell 10 minutes or so before washing but DO keep it wet and dont let it dry before washing.

I have found a product at WalMart called McCloskeys? deck wash. (something like that, in the paint department) It is very very good at cleaning up fences and decks. I was amazed! And you dont need a wood brightener.

Do ever wash your hand after you finish your business in the public bathroom?

Can you tell me, do you wash your hand after you finish your urine?Do ever wash your hand after you finish your business in the public bathroom?
Everyone should wash their hands after doing their business at home and in public restrooms for their own hygiene and the hygiene of others.Do ever wash your hand after you finish your business in the public bathroom?
Depends on how gross the sink and faucet are
I wash my hands every time I use a public toilet. I wash my hands much(but not always) of the time after peeing at home too.

I worked in the food industry since I was 16, so got into the good habit of washing my hands. By the way, I am very rarely sick and rarely get a cold. May have something to do with the frequent hand washing.

    .
    Yes.
I try not to use public restrooms, but if I do, of course I wash my hands.
Yes. Not washing your hands after using the bathroom, especially a public one, is just gross.
    always
    hell yea
yes, but less than 25% 0f guys leaving the bathroom do. I just left the movies and out of 10 guys 2 washed there hands.
    Yes.
    Reminds me of a funny incident that happened to me in Texas. I ran into the mens room quick and after relieving myself started to walk out. This big Texan in a ten gallon hat stopped me and said ';In Texas we wash our hands after using the urinal'; and I replied ';In Connecticut we don't piss all over our hands';
Yes, pretty much always. Only time I don't is if the facilities are really nasty. Then I figure I'll just pee and get out cause touching myself and not washing is probably cleaner than trying to flush and wash. Not often though.
    Always.

Do you run your own mobile dog wash business

FOR AUSTRALIA**** I am thinking of buying a franchise and becoming a mobile dog washer.

I would really enjoy it, and I heard you get to work your own hours and can earn a lot. If you run a business doing this, how do you find it?

And are there better companies to be a franchisee with eg: Hydrodog, Aussie Pooch or Jim's??Do you run your own mobile dog wash business
i actually used to own a hydrodog franchise in qld and loved it. yes you can work your own hours, yes you can charge what you want, yes you can earn what you like. although it is hard work but if you love dogs and you have good ppl skills (as the ppll have to like you too) and are responsible and show up when you say you will your business will go great. i was making over $1000 a week and only working 20-30hours. but its not easy. you do have to put in alot of effort at the start and you dont get too much back. but after a few months you'll reap the rewards if you do everything well.

by the way i went a franchise as i had never owner my own business and they help you out heaps with the advertising and how to run a business. i thought this was terrific. as i was worried about the business side of things. i think a franchise is an excellent option when you have never run your own business as they have aldready made a name for themselves. but you do have to pay franchise costs for this. please please please research all the franchisors in your area. some go on percentages for fees, others are a flat fee (which is great when you start earning lots but not so good when you arent making anything). hydrodog is set fee. but call them all and set up meetings with the head franchisee and see what they can offer you. also bargain with them at the cost of the franchise. they do deals even if they say they dont. and do not just go with a company coz you like the head franchisor, go with them for the fees, the structure they have for the business, what the future for the business is, the fees and then how much you like the head franchisor as you will be dealing with them wheneva you have any problems.

also go out with a few of the ppl who own them with different companies. you will learn alot from the ppl. but make sure the head franchisor doesnt push you to go with one particular person as this person might just say anything to suck up to the head franchisor.

anyways best of luck and any questions please e-mail me. but i loved the job. it does get hard, it does get wet, you do get dirty but if you are fine with that and dont think its all cute puppies you should be fine. i loved it and the only reason i sold was due to a move. i am actually thinking of getting back into it with the franchise as i belive you would have to put in way too much time to build my own small business with a good name. this way i can start making money quickly and not worry so much about advertising ect.

Do you run your own mobile dog wash business
I can not answear for australia but i can give general advice. I own a mobil servise in the usa. No need to franchise, it is a waste of good money you still need to go out and build your own client base and peple are loyal to a groomer not a brand. We have franchises here as well and they do nothing to ensure your sucess.

If you have not groomed as a pro work in a shop first, you really need this time and will learn a lot from your fellow employees. Once you know you are up to speed go for it! I have done very well on my own and I wish you a sucessful career
Just washing dogs? I don't know how you would make money just washing dogs most people can bath there dog them self's. If this is a mobile grooming then yes I can understand but you don't need to go with a franchise to do this you ca buy a mobile grooming van or trailer.
i think you sould go ahead its the best job ever

  • Should you wear a suit to a business meeting to buy a car wash?

In London, an interview and possibility of a large sum of money to be exchanged. It is for a car wash franchise though. So do you think a suit should be worn?Should you wear a suit to a business meeting to buy a car wash?
Yes absolutely. Act professionally if you are going to possibly be purchasing this place. A cute professional skirt suit would be very appropriate.Should you wear a suit to a business meeting to buy a car wash?
yes it does depend which country you're in and even in which state you live in as in the US, and it depends on which time of year. How about a casual suit, like you'd have a polo shirt on and could take your jacket off if needed.
Without a doubt you should wear a suit. You want to appear as professional and polished and business like as possible and the suit will give you the look you need to close the deal

    Best of luck
Of course, you want to be seen as somebody who takes such a large transaction seriously.
Yes you absolutely should owing to the fact that you are representing yourself as a professional who is seeking to purchase a new business
    Yes you should.
Yes, best foot forward, and all that. Comb or brush your hair too.

How do get my lazy fat cousin that lives with me to wash his hands after doing his business?

You can ask, but don't count on things changing. He's an adult and probably set in his nasty ways. How do get my lazy fat cousin that lives with me to wash his hands after doing his business?
Yeah well I have tried telling my daughters boyfriend that . he was coughing and he has a baby. Plus the bathroom thing. He got offended. but would want to make a snack or a drink. I would get mad. I toldf my husband that I could not stand getting in the refigirator any more. Hes since moved out. Less work and less sicking things. I mean he should be setting a examople of washing his hands for the baby wehen hew older how does he think that he will get it???? Heck tell him that you can hear the toliet flush and you never hear the water run. That thats weird!!!!!! If he does not get it tell him you will live better and hes a dentist sick!!!
You think that's bad? My brother never washes his hands AND never flushes.

Im a used car dealer and when business is slow the car wash guy does nothing what can make him do?

Im a used car dealer with about 50 cars on my lot. when business is slow he sit and does nothing ( which he has for three days now). i made him re arrange the lot, put armor all on all the tires, have him start all the cars see if they start if not charge the battery what else can i make him do to keep him busy?Im a used car dealer and when business is slow the car wash guy does nothing what can make him do?
You've got 50 cars on your lot...if he washed only 7 cars per day (1 hour each), it would take him over 7 days to complete washing them all. By that time, you'll have sold some, added new ones and the 7-day old ones will be dirty again. Why not just keep him on a quota system of washing 6-7 cars per day?

If it's raining, you could have him help out in the office doing filing, or the parts department running parts...cleaning up the guest waiting area, sweeping floors, cleaning the windows of the building, emptying trash cans, etc.Im a used car dealer and when business is slow the car wash guy does nothing what can make him do?
Give all the cars a good wash and wax job for all 50 cars. put a scented tree in each car, vacuum all the cars out and armor all the dashes and entire interior. scotch gard the cloth seats and carpet, put rubber mats in all the cars front and back. Clean the windows with windex, and apply rain x so the rain will bead up. change out wiper blades. have him check the fluid levels on all the cars, transmission, oil, washer fluid and brake fluid. And if these jobs are not enough to keep him sufficiently occupied while on your time clock, then have him clean and vacuum the entire office, empty the garbage cans in each cubicle, mow the grass if its needed, shovel walks and the lot in the winter, put down ice melt on the entire parking lot.
With the current financial situation chances are business won't pick up again for quite awhile. Especially with the current standing of the auto industry. I would say you are doing the right thing by just keeping him busy with the odd-jobs around the lot. But eventually you will run out of those things and not have too many things needing to be done, I would only have him work every other day or see if he has any other skills that you could utilize. Hope things work out.
If you can't keep him busy then obviously business is slow for you. If washing your cars is what he does then start a detail car wash business at your dealership. Have him wash other peoples cars so you can make money but give him a percentage so he does a good job and stays motivated. Expand your business!!!
Does he actually clean up the cars or only wash? When we are slow, we ask other dealers (friends) to send over cars for him to clean up. We make extra money and he's not sitting around doing nothing.

Oh you can also send him to pick up parts, titles, call collection (if you finance).

lol I like the idea of advertising, I don't think our employees would do that though, they would go on strike.
As a business owner the answer is quite simple: cut his hours. Have him work three days per week or hire some teen-ager who would love to have a part-time job and is filled with energy; just remember to treat him well and complement him from time to time. Teen-agers like that.

    Cheers,

    Mr. M. on ';car wash guy';
Maintenance on the property, cleaning, sweeping, etc.

Speaking as someone that manages other people, you should be finding people who don't NEED to be told what to do. They need to be able to find stuff to do on their own, without you guiding them every step of the way.
have him clean the lot..if he has a drivers license make him deliver parts or pick up parts, make him wash the cars. if he still does nothing, then i think u should fire him, and hire a mechanic who is willing to do the extra ***** work your making this kid do...
Stop trying to keep him busy. Look at your business and see what you need. Have him do that. Teach him to sell. Teach him to do parts of YOUR job and use your time to develop your business to make more money.
Make him dress up like a clown and stand at the corner of the street near your store and try to wave people in. I always like to see those guys when I'm driving by, it makes me happy to be me.
perhaps its not feasible on your account, to have him working f/t?

so.. send him home and let him play xbox360 (madden perhaps?)

either that or train him to sell.

When my husbands mobile auto service is slow, he'll drive around passing out fliers and it keeps them busy and brings in more customers.
Sweep the lot and pick up trash. Wash office windows. Vacuum.

I actually think that he's being over-scheduled. Put him on part-time instead of full time employment.
He could teach you something about business management. Or something about organizational behavior.
tell him during the slow times you can't afford him everyday so he can only work 4 days next week.

Now's the time to save money.
Advertise your car wash and cut him in. Both happy and when things pick up you each have someone you can count on.
Make him vacuum the cars, check the oil, stand outside with a sign that says buy a car or sumtin
Check the oil, check tyre pressures, advertise.
Have him stand on the street with a sign advertising your business.
Have him massage your back. There's nothing quite like a nice back massage.
advertise. Give him a sign and stick him on the corner.
Sing and dance to attract customers?
Stand on the road w/ one of those arrows. My boss makes me do all kinds of busy work but, he's gone today :)
just hire a part time guy do his job when you need him
you can make him find pennies you hide under certain tires. that could take a while. try having him clean the office. or mabe paint something
open aother business in car wash, then he'll be busy...
    I love a business man.

I need some advice on starting a car wash business.?

how much do you think it would cost me if i wanted to put in a car wash, with 3 self service bays? Any other advice on how to get started into the car washing business would be highly appreciated.I need some advice on starting a car wash business.?
If you have the land and it's zoned for this type of business, you should be able to get a 3 bay wash set up for around $175,000 to $250,000. This should include your pumps, hoses, spray nozzles, brushes, building, detergents, money changers, wash meters, water hook ups, and vacuums. I'm sure I'm missing something here but you get the idea. About 175 to 250. Find a good location, something that has good access and decent staging, You would not believe how many time I drive down the road and see small car washes that only have space for 1 car to be staged and then the rest are waiting in (or would have to be waiting) busy roads trying to get in. All this does if force people to go some where else. Set it up so you can have at least 3 or 4 cars staged at a time. Put the vacuums first then the wash. That way they have something to be while they are waiting. Find a location where you have good traffic. There is a wash almost in the middle of my neighbor hood that is always full. From just about sun up to sun down. It turns a lot of cars out of there. But a main road is the best choice. Hope this helps. I tend to ramble on a bit.

Do you think a mobile car wash is a good business idea?

Great idea! Go for it!Do you think a mobile car wash is a good business idea?
I've seen one in my area. They seem pretty busy.
Definitely. You'll want to do detailing too though, as people usually want more than just a wash.

I used to own an auto detailing business, so I've been there.

Educate yourself on how to properly (without causing scratching, marring or swirl marks) wash, dry, claybar, polish, wax, glaze, seal, dress tires, clean engine bays, wheels, etc.

Do interiors too of course. Vacuum (shampoo if needed), clean seats / dash / doors, etc., clean glass, dress the interior nicely, all of that.

Don't forget details like the trunk.

You might check out autopia.org, it's a forum of auto detailers and they have a pro. detailer section. Could be helpful.

    Good luck!
Yes it is but do you're research first good luck I was looking in to that business my self
You should research things like, portable water tank, water pump and/or pressure washer, generator, vacuum, trailer to haul everything, supplies for detailing if you will be doing that, and advertising.

Sounds like a good idea, but would really research it.

Most hand washes start at a fiver, so just undercut that. Remember that your customers are going to expect the same end result though. Soap and sponge isn't going to be enough, you need something to make their little vehicles sparkle.

As for a name, you could use your own : D

Or howzabout 'The Amazing Carwashman', 'The Scrubber', 'Carwash', 'Vehicle External Restoration Enterprises', or just 'Carwashes R us'?
You will need a bucket, a few water absorbing cotton towels to dry of the car, maybe a hand vacuum cleaner, ';quality'; automobile soap only, and maybe a fold-up step stool to reach those hard to get to roofs. business cards, calendar to schedule future appointments. Rubber boots of some sort. Wear a white shirt. And a wagon of some sort to pack your stuff around in.

A name I came up with is: Your Car, My Suds
Start washing your parents car in return for an allowance.
Don't forget you also need public liability insurance
For price i would have a look at other local places that do car washes, then just beat their price.

Is a self serve car wash a good business to own?

    Hello,

I was thinking of purchasing a self serve car wash. I heard that it is a great cash flow business. Is there any other businesses like this I could start?

ThanksIs a self serve car wash a good business to own?
How about opening a Mobile Car Wash? I did and I love it! Great money and people love the convenience. I have a trailer for sale if interested. Just email me.Is a self serve car wash a good business to own?
Honestly, it's all in the location and the condition. Keep the car wash clean and in great working order and it will do well. Let it get nasty and have broken and leaky equipment and people will stop coming. You are also going to want to look into local ordinances and stuff like how the business is taxed and what fees the city/county/state might charge for drainage and such.
I have heard that they are great businesses to own. Also, coin operated laundries are cash cows too if they are in a good location. Look into leasing the equipment with a maintenance agreement rather than purchasing the equipment because it will save you a lot of headaches.

Touchless Car Wash Business - How Does It Work?

Anybody in this business with websites on starting a US car wash?Touchless Car Wash Business - How Does It Work?
A touchless car wash uses high-pressure water jets instead of regular soap %26amp; brushes. It's an automated cleaning solution for people who are extra careful about their cars. But the downside is, it may not be as effective as cleaning with brushes.

You can start a business by having 3-5 bays that cater to both touchless %26amp; self-wash systems. That way, you'll be able to service a greater number of drive-ins in the same facility.Touchless Car Wash Business - How Does It Work?
Self serve car washes are everywhere. A ';touchless'; car wash is simply a car wash with no brushes. It relies on high pressure water and foaming soap to wash the surface dirt off the car. This is probably the cheapest and least effective of all car wash systems.

These coin operated car washes must be a lucrative business because they seem to be everywhere. They are also one that is fairly hands free (no need to pay an employee). It's kinda like owning a vending machine. You place it in a great location and the customers come to you to buy your products and leave the money. Completely self service. All you do is maintain the equipment and collect the money.

    Thanks

AndyHas anyone started their own mobile car wash business?
Yes I am a mobile detailer on the weekends as I am still in school. The start up cost can be pretty high (especially if you are like me and didn't have a Truck or Van). I started when I was 16 and I have been doing it for several months, I luckily had my parents (especially dad who was into helping me with it) support. The first cost is a detail rig. I myself use a 2007 Chevy 2500 with a service body on the back so I don't need a trailer. The truck has lockable storage built in and room for a water tank.

    http://www.commercialtrucktrader.com/wor鈥?/a>

I use a truck that is identical to the one in the link, and it saves me a lot of money since i don't need a trailer. The next cost is you will need a water tank, as most of your customers aren't going to lend out their water and expect you to be prepared. I use a tank like the one below

    http://www.detailsupplyoutlet.com/item.h鈥?/a>

Then you need a pressure washer. I use this one.

    http://www.deere.com/en_US/parts/homeand鈥?/a>

Then you need all your mitts, brushes, buckets, chemicals, and towels which aren't cheap either.

Then you have to pay for gas to get to and from each job, and remember gas is starting to go back up.

Overall i love doing it but it has a large start up cost, and it is very time consuming to do it right each job.

Oh yeah, i left out the fact you will also need to get the proper permits for your state, and it doesn't hurt to get some insurance in case you damage a customers vehicle.Has anyone started their own mobile car wash business?
I did Auto Upholstery for about 10 or 15 years. Knew a few people that did that. They called it Mobile Detailing.

They made some pretty good cash. The big money seemed to be in the actual detail part more than mobile washing.

I guess you could incorporate the two and make a go of it. Only thing I guess one could use on that would be a genset (AC Generator) to run the Pressure Washer. Once the car is washed, then its all about good wax and technique.

The startup cost for most of that is pretty basic, get a van, get the genset and the pressure washer.

    Van---about $2500-$4000

    Generator----$500

    Pressure Washer--$250 or less.

The money is in the detailing. Ever been to a car wash? The detail part is where the action is at.

Anyone can drive through a car-wash, but not everyone can properly detail the interior of an auto.

    To do detail all you need is a small truck with a camper or tunnoue cover over it. I guess you could also do that with the wash part. so drop the initial outlay to;

    Truck--$550-$2000

    and so on.

We gave up on it because of the gas ,insurance and other miscellaneous overheads would have been astronomic and would have far outpaced any profit margin.

Not to say don't, it just did not make sense to us or our book keepers.

I want to start my own waterless car wash business?

i wnt to start my own waterlss car wash, wud ne 1 like to tell me ne ideas in how to compete wth already established valeters as i m goin to be new to the business world?I want to start my own waterless car wash business?
u have gotta be kidding, a waterless car wash?????I want to start my own waterless car wash business?
A Car Wash is not really something you need to compete with other people over business. Just open one in an area where there is none and hope the competitor doesnt move across the street. If that happens you have to reduce prices or install something new there that the competitor doesnt have (such as an atm or machines that have other cleaning things for peoples cars). Waterless is a great idea because you can actually advertise it and catch customers that a normal car wash wouldnt. When customers read in the newspaper a flashy ad that says ';Waterless Car Wash! Only $9.99 per car - come on down!';, they will be more willing to show up because they will be curious what a waterless car wash is. You should also offer incentives to the first 1000 people that show up (free tshirts or bumper stickers). Thats like a traveling advertisement for your business and they will wear it because its free. Waterless car washes are starting to become popular so I think its a great thing to get into if you have the start up money. Its kind of like those dippin dots ice cream places. They offer the same ice cream everyone else does, but they put a different twist on it and thats why its so successful. People just want to try it because its different. Thats why a waterless car wash would probably be a good business right now. If you go and open your first car wash in New York or Los Angeles, you probably wont succeed. You need to open it in an area where there is no competition, but enough people to get customers...then when it starts doing good, find another area in your state or somewhere that is similar...and once you build up enough chains in small areas, thats when you will have the money and brand name to be able to compete with the big boys in the big cities.

How much money can I make or profit from a car wash business?

It is hard to categorically say how much income you can expect to make from a car wash business. The rule of thumb is 15-20% return on investment on a 5-7 year window. It really depends on the type of car wash you decide on and the services you will offer.

You need to consider the following factors to ensure greater profitability in your car wash business:

    1. Location - you need to choose a location that will support the operations of your business, and it should be very visible

    2. Type - what car wash operation are you planning to operate (self service car wash or in-bay automatic, which can either be friction automatics or touch free automatics)

    3. Equipment - Unless the car wash business you are thinking of is the self service type, an automatic car wash business requires significant capital equipment

I have some experieced pottencial staff who I plan employ, but getting a premises is proving to be very difficult. Is there any website or company rent that them out? Please help.Where to begin, a car wash business?
Because the best place to have a car wash will always be zoned against car wash, even eal estate agents will be scratching their heads.

A car wash needs to be on a collector road between two or several upscale neighborhoods, And it has to be able to recycle its water without contaminating the local environment. Few such locations will be available. Someone will have bought and held it away from you,

Upscale areas always want to keep car wash operations out of their area, even though they most use them. So most newer car wash operations go into a lot that is also a service station... the kind that sells gasoline. This subtle change is almost always tolerable because those living near gasoline services are not upscale.Where to begin, a car wash business?
I would suggest buying an existing one instead.

Buying an existing business gives you a running start. From the first day you can work on enhancing revenue.

Once you have a successful existing one the banks will be happy to loan you money for building a new one.
The guys I see around here just set up a canopy in someone's parking lot to start their business. I'm sure they had to pay the owner some cash, but they started small. If you are starting small as well, try asking well placed convenient stores if you can use their lot one saturday and sunday.
    UK reply.

We are in a rural town.

The Poles have set up a hand car wash on a busy through road which is very successful. They charge 拢4.99 per car and make a good job of it (I use them). The Poles have a good reputation in our town as hard working and always happy.

They pay the owner of a second hand car lot a percentage for use of a corner of his site. They have use of a small store room in the side of the garage. They have had A frame signs made and placed on the pavement either side of the entrance. Also had banners placed on sides of the overhead canopy over where the petrol pumps used to be.

It appear to work well - and of course it is a cash business which I am sure is handy for them.........

They started with a site in the car park of a pub on the main road into town. However crucially the access was difficult (on a fast road) and people would only stop out of peak hours so trade was not good.

Also they only got traffic from one direction because turning the other way caused traffic blockages. I mention this as with any retail business position, position, position, is the most important thing!

    Hope this all helps!

I am trying to start a storage unit and car wash business how could i go about it to get started?

The first thing to do is to learn all you can about the self storage business. Do a research on the business, including the costs and investments it entails, operational considerations and the factors that make a self storage business successful. Parallel with getting industry information, you also need to start looking at the size of the market for self storage in your planned location, number and services offered by competitors, permits and licenses, as well as other county/city requirements for this type of business including commercial zoning regulations.

You may want to start your research with the Self Storage Association at http://www.selfstorage.org . They have produced several must-read publications on the self storage industry that any would-be entrant in this field should read. These studies include Financial %26amp; Operational Characteristics of Self Storage Facilities; Self Storage Demand Study; The Best of The Self Storage Legal Network: Answers to the 75 Most Frequently Asked Legal Questions; among others. The prices of the publication may be a bit steep but it is always better to know more about the market before you enter it, especially for a business that will require significant initial outlay.

Another important resource is Inside Self Storage鈥檚 http://www.insideselfstorage.com publication called Inside Self Storage Factbook that is published on an annual basis. The Factbook contains information on wide ranking issues affecting the self storage business from construction, insurance, security and access, management, marketing, among others.

You may also want to check out the following books:

I would like to start a car wash business. I know the empty corner lot I would like to put it on but its not?

Not what, for sale? If that is what you are saying you can go to your local county clerk and recorder and find out who owns the property and contact the owner and see if they are willing to sell.

You also need to look into zoning in your area before you pursue this too far and see if that type of business is even allowed at this

location. Then you also have to worry about EPA environmental stuff because of the toxic nature of a lot of soaps and cleaners and how you trap and filter them. Then you have to be prepared to have a good business plan to present to a bank if you are looking for financing. I recommend going to the Small Business Administration website for information on help and financing.

    Good Luck to you!!!

I want to put up a car wash business, how should i start and how much capital i need?

The amount of capital you need depends entirely on what kind of car wash you intend to establish.

There are far too many variables to even begin providing a valid answer.

Price %26amp; availability of land, construction costs, laws %26amp; rules that govern the operation, variable costs (utilities maintenance, labor, etc) , fixed costs (rent, taxes, maintenance, etc.), and other factors all determine how you would get started and how much capital would be required.I want to put up a car wash business, how should i start and how much capital i need?
The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

  • Why do car wash business close when it is raining?

Don't they want business? I was going to one yesterday and the guy there goes ';IT IS RAINING!!!'; then motions to the sky.

I'm not blind, I just want my car cleaned. Is that too much to ask?Why do car wash business close when it is raining?
    i know!

i mean, youd think the girls would just put on t-shirts. jeez! Why do car wash business close when it is raining?
    ty Report Abuse

Because no one wants to be outside cleaning your car in pouring rain and no car wash will allow their employees to do it because of their insurance policies. Employees could be struck by lightening while out there running a vacuum and they could get sued. And no one in their right mind wants someone to pour water on their car while there is water pouring from the sky, so, YES, it is too much to ask.
LOL good question, rain will not clean your car the same as a carwash will, however most people always say , oh because I washed my car now its going to rain. Like the rainwater will dirty thier car! Won't clean it , but won't dirty it either.
cause there is no point in washing it right then if its just going to get dity then too.... unless you really wanted it then who am i to judge??
because there is no point in having a car wash for your car because the rain will clean ur car. (:
The rain will clean your car.
    the rain washes the car

hey JESUS is washing your car.
because the rain washes your car :)

    that's why they close
They can't compete with God, He washes a lot more cars than they do and He doesn't charge!

I'm looking to start a small time mobile car wash business..what's a good price to charge for a wash?

it's a hand wash and i would make people pay extra for more options such as vacuuming, armorall, etc.

do you think this would even be successful? i live in nyc so there's definately a lot of people around with a lot of nice cars and its getting warmer soon...

thanks for your help.I'm looking to start a small time mobile car wash business..what's a good price to charge for a wash?
Great Business! My friend and i had a very successful mobile detail company. What we did was 2 prices... $25 for cars and $35 for trucks and SUVs. $150 To do a full detail on a car (wash,Wax,vacuum, wipe down the inside with conditioner) And $200 for trucks. Don't charge extra for vacuuming and armorall.People start getting picky plus once you get your own system down you can wash, dry, vac and wipe down in about 15 mins or so.... Oh also try calling other detail companies. Get ideas from them and change them to fit your needs. Trust me on this. Do it that way and your clients will be repeats and the referrals start coming in. We ended up selling it for a pretty good deal of money... contact me if you want more info. I hope i helped you... GOOD LUCK!
