Is it illegal to have a car wash business in your driveway?

a guy a few houses up washes about 7 cars per day (in addition to other questionable activities) and then ducks behind the cars when he sees someone walking by, or runs inside when he occasionally sees the police drive by. is'nt this illegal without a license? Is it illegal to have a car wash business in your driveway?
Since it is doubtful that your neighborhood is zoned for a business, then yes it would be illegal. If the police are not helpful, you might want to call the local zoning board. Is it illegal to have a car wash business in your driveway?
I'm curious, where is he parking the cars to be washed? And the cars he just finished washing? That's a lot of cars to be parked in front of one's house.

It depends on the zoning regulations as to whether or not his so called ';business'; is illegal. Like on my street it is zoned for small business and residential. So if you had a business selling clay pots that you make in your basement in your front yard it's legal.

In my area of the country we have limitations on water use. It changes from year to year depending on the mountain snow fall. A couple of summers ago we weren't allowed to wash our cars at home due ot a water shortage. We had to take them to a car wash that reused its water. The others had to be shut down until they could comply.

If you think the guy is doing something not cool, video tape it for evidence. Tape is the one incorruptible and undisputed witness. There is nothing he can do because he is in full public view from a public thoroughfare. As long as you don't step on private property your legal.

most like is illegal, depending on your cities codes regulations. contact city hall and they can point you to the correct authorities.
This is not only illegal but your neighbor could get in some serious trouble with the EPA if the waste water is getting into the city drainage or any nearby creeks.....
Yes call the cops and explain to them.
