Because the best place to have a car wash will always be zoned against car wash, even eal estate agents will be scratching their heads.
A car wash needs to be on a collector road between two or several upscale neighborhoods, And it has to be able to recycle its water without contaminating the local environment. Few such locations will be available. Someone will have bought and held it away from you,
Upscale areas always want to keep car wash operations out of their area, even though they most use them. So most newer car wash operations go into a lot that is also a service station... the kind that sells gasoline. This subtle change is almost always tolerable because those living near gasoline services are not upscale.Where to begin, a car wash business?
I would suggest buying an existing one instead.
Buying an existing business gives you a running start. From the first day you can work on enhancing revenue.
Once you have a successful existing one the banks will be happy to loan you money for building a new one.
The guys I see around here just set up a canopy in someone's parking lot to start their business. I'm sure they had to pay the owner some cash, but they started small. If you are starting small as well, try asking well placed convenient stores if you can use their lot one saturday and sunday.
UK reply.
We are in a rural town.
The Poles have set up a hand car wash on a busy through road which is very successful. They charge 拢4.99 per car and make a good job of it (I use them). The Poles have a good reputation in our town as hard working and always happy.
They pay the owner of a second hand car lot a percentage for use of a corner of his site. They have use of a small store room in the side of the garage. They have had A frame signs made and placed on the pavement either side of the entrance. Also had banners placed on sides of the overhead canopy over where the petrol pumps used to be.
It appear to work well - and of course it is a cash business which I am sure is handy for them.........
They started with a site in the car park of a pub on the main road into town. However crucially the access was difficult (on a fast road) and people would only stop out of peak hours so trade was not good.
Also they only got traffic from one direction because turning the other way caused traffic blockages. I mention this as with any retail business position, position, position, is the most important thing!
Hope this all helps!
