A Car Wash is not really something you need to compete with other people over business. Just open one in an area where there is none and hope the competitor doesnt move across the street. If that happens you have to reduce prices or install something new there that the competitor doesnt have (such as an atm or machines that have other cleaning things for peoples cars). Waterless is a great idea because you can actually advertise it and catch customers that a normal car wash wouldnt. When customers read in the newspaper a flashy ad that says ';Waterless Car Wash! Only $9.99 per car - come on down!';, they will be more willing to show up because they will be curious what a waterless car wash is. You should also offer incentives to the first 1000 people that show up (free tshirts or bumper stickers). Thats like a traveling advertisement for your business and they will wear it because its free. Waterless car washes are starting to become popular so I think its a great thing to get into if you have the start up money. Its kind of like those dippin dots ice cream places. They offer the same ice cream everyone else does, but they put a different twist on it and thats why its so successful. People just want to try it because its different. Thats why a waterless car wash would probably be a good business right now. If you go and open your first car wash in New York or Los Angeles, you probably wont succeed. You need to open it in an area where there is no competition, but enough people to get customers...then when it starts doing good, find another area in your state or somewhere that is similar...and once you build up enough chains in small areas, thats when you will have the money and brand name to be able to compete with the big boys in the big cities.
